Interpretation

The studio has been commissioned for many interpretation and signage projects. Good interpretation gives a nod to history and often adds new meaning. Design elements and ‘words’ convey messages through narrative, metaphor and symbolism.

Water Police

Recipient of numerous design awards, the Water Police Park features an interpretive program that includes various items: interpretive pathway with words and cast remnant objects, poetry steps and historical signage.

Ballast Point Park

Commissioned in 2007 and completed in July 2009, Ballast Point Park is a 2.6 hectare park 7 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. One of the park's most interesting features is the way the site's history has been brought to life for visitors through design, art, poetry and signage. The studio designed the interpretive elements, wayfinding signage and a commemorative book detailing the lengthy design process.

Beare Park

Part of the everyday fabric of Elizabeth Bay, Beare Park is the perfect place for a picnic. The studio incorporated the site's history through signage and interpretive elements.

Camp Cove Panel

Situated at Watsons Bay, the Camp Cove interpretive panel details local history since pre-colonial times.

Chinatown Dixon Street

The studio designed permanent graphic lightboxes and wall plaques for a streetscape upgrade to Chinatown.

Sam Fiszman Park

The studio executes projects across various disciplines of all scales and scope. The Sam Fiszman memorial, Bondi Beach, is a good example of a multi-disciplined award winning collaboration. Winner of many design and construction awards, the studio designed the signage for the sandstone wall and the garden beds. Award: RAIA For Urban Design Architecture Award 2008

Tingira Memorial

The studio demonstrates its commitment to designing and executing powerful and engaging public space signage and interpretation. Situated on Sydney Harbour, the electric blue anodised memorial sign commemorates the good ship Tingira.

Slipstream

Wedged between city buildings and a maze of Melbourne freeways, the Slipstream neon adorns the facade of a domestic high-rise. The studio collaborated with McGregor Westlake Architecture to design an interactive neon that responds to car lights and traffic movement. A code is depicted based on the beat, ebb and flow of traffic.

Newtown Peace Park

From the very beginning, the studio has applied their creative brushstroke to every imaginable application or environment, including this repeat pattern for a tile design at Peace Park, Newtown.
